Our business is technology, analytics and making sense of data from every source. So yes, we’re left-brained at heart, but we never lose sight that what we do helps make people well and keep them that way.
What’s working? Which patients are at-risk? Who haven’t we seen in a while? Answering physicians’ previously unanswerable questions not only helps them improve patient health, it keeps their organizations financially strong
Our city’s known for music, college sports, cheese, and health care IT. Forward Health Group is headquartered on Madison’s famed Capitol Square, right downtown in a landmark building, an icon of 20th century architecture.
Michael Barbouche is the Founder and CEO of Forward Health Group, a population health company based in Madison, Wisconsin. A mathematician formally trained in health services research, he has over twenty years of health care experience, with an acute focus on data. Applying the principles of set theory, he has invented new data models for the health care industry that maximize the harvest and yield of clinical results, regardless of health IT infrastructure. A frequent advisor on health care data strategy, Michael has demonstrated that any quest for lower costs / higher quality must begin with a denominator. Michael owes most of what he knows about health care to his wife, Ellen, a general internist in practice at the University of Wisconsin. They live in Madison with their three great kids.
Subbu’s twenty-year career in health IT began with a long-ago reading of “Healthcare For Dummies” at a now defunct Borders in New Jersey. Since then, unlike actual bookstores, Subbu has flourished. A compulsive, multi-faceted, systems-oriented thinker, Subbu believes that the road to value-based care is paved with a focus on business fundamentals, and accurate, timely information. Subbu has assisted in transitioning several health care ideas into profitable companies followed by successful acquisitions. Most recently, he was COO of Amphion Medical Solutions and COO at Symphony Care (A comprehensive suite of products for value based healthcare, acquired by Influence Health). Subbu also led a SWAT team that developed the playbook for CMS in the move from ICD-9 to ICD-10. His current personal goal is to successfully compete with his six-year-old daughter on Star Wars trivia.

And James is the guy to foster those relationships with health care leaders such as the American Heart Association, The American Medical Association and other key channel partners. Drawing from more than fifteen years of successful operations and continuous improvement experience, James’s expertise helps FHG deliver solutions that keep customers and channel partners coming back. He has traveled the world working to develop and deliver better solutions to keep organizations running smoothly and FHG, our clients and partners all benefit.

As a practicing pediatrician with post-graduate training in medical informatics, Dr. Studebaker knows better than most how critical it is to get the data right. And he knows just how broken health data currently is. He has experience in analyzing, evaluating and implementing health information systems in clinical settings. John has domain expertise in clinical information systems and strategy and has created novel approaches for integrating medical informatics and health information technology with clinical training. While serving as the medical director for Oklahoma’s largest Medicaid clinic for five years, he was responsible for the implementation of an electronic medical record.
For nearly 20 years, Jeff has been focused on keeping data safe. He has created, implemented and managed computer systems all designed with data safety at the forefront. Whether it’s HIPAA compliance, state Medicaid systems or financial transaction data, Jeff’s skills and experience have resulted in best practices-based systems that keep your data secure and accurate. But don’t take our word for it. Jeff led Forward Health Group’s effort on a successful SOC 2 audit conducted by some very well known auditors. And those guys know good compliance when they see it.
It’s not just our docs and math folks who live and breathe health care data. Even our General Counsel has more than twenty-five years of health care experience. Prior to coming to FHG in 2009, Nancy served as General Counsel and Associate General Counsel for health insurance firms such as Unity Health Plans Insurance Corporation and United Wisconsin Services/Blue Cross Blue Shield of Wisconsin. While we’re busy translating data into understandable intelligence, Nancy does the same for legalese and the regulatory and compliance matters important to our clients.
