Kerra Guffey

Kerra joins Forward Health Group with diverse executive leadership experience gained during her thirty-year health care career spanning finance, accounting, analysis, strategy, operations, and IT in payer and provider organizations.

Kerra has held the role of Chief Information Officer (CIO) for the past 14 years across multiple different health systems and health insurance companies, most recently at WPS Health Insurance of Madison, WI. and, prior to that, Meriter Health Services. In those roles, she has been responsible for implementation and optimization initiatives related to clinical and administrative systems software and hardware, including enterprise electronic medical record systems from multiple vendors. She also served as the Chief Operating Officer (COO) for Physicians Plus Insurance Corporation.

Kerra began her career as a Certified Public Accountant performing external audits of hospitals, non-profit and manufacturing clients and quickly identified health care as the industry she wanted to join. She has since worked in health systems including multiple hospitals, clinics and the full complement of ancillary services including durable medical equipment, dialysis, home health and hospice services and payer organizations providing commercial, Medicare, self-insured and other products and services to the private sector and CMS, VA, and DHA governmental entities. She has led large and small teams to success focused on the full software development life cycle for proprietary software platforms as well as for purchased systems.

Kerra has also served as the operational leader for a start-up physician hospital organization where in addition to finance, marketing and operations, she was responsible for provider network development, reimbursement, contracting, and credentialing. She has experience as an IT consultant with Deloitte & Touche for large provider and payer organizations on the west coast and held the role of Vice President in a multi-hospital system where she was responsible for Internal Audit, Compliance and Privacy prior to being promoted to CIO.

Kerra holds an undergraduate degree in Accounting, a MBA in IT Management and Finance and a certificate in Biomedical Informatics. She is passionate about the improvement needed in the healthcare industry to result in better patient outcomes.
