Frequently Asked Questions about PopulationManager®
What hardware or software do I need to operate PopulationManager?
PopulationManager is viewed through any web browser (e.g., Internet Explorer, Chrome or Firefox). Your data resides on your servers.
Do we need an EHR or PopulationManager?
Eventually, you should have both. If you are thinking of getting an EHR, give us a call—we can help you pick the right EHR solution for your system.
Don’t EHR’s or EMR’s offer the same benefits as PopulationManager?
We are big proponents of EHR’s/EMR’s and believe that systems can benefit tremendously from (significant) investments in Health IT. EHS’s/EMR’s do not support population health improvement—that is why we built PopulationManager.
Don’t just take our word for it, have a look at this:
“Policymakers’ hopes that electronic medical records can substantially improve the quality and coordination of patient care don’t really fit in with clinicians’ real-world experiences with commercial EMR’s,” according to a new study in The Journal of General Internal Medicine. http://www.pbn.com/detail/47065.html
“And the research shows that installing the [EHR] technology does not necessarily mean that the hoped-for gains in quality and cost containment will follow quickly.” http://www.nytimes.com/2009/11/16/business/16records.html
We do not have an EHR. Can we use PopulationManager?
Yes. PopulationManager displays the data from your practice—including paper-based practices that do not have an EHR.
We have an EHR. Will I have to use a separate logon for PopulationManager?
No. Working with your IT staff, we can make the logon seamless.
How long does the installation take?
It takes our implementation team 4-6 weeks to get your data flowing. Often, the biggest challenge we face is scheduling the kick-off meeting with your clinical leaders and IT staff.
What do I have to do with my data in preparation for PopulationManager?
Nothing. Our team will identify, map, collect, and report your data so you can focus on the harder task—improving your results over time.
How often are the measures in PopulationManager updated?
We refresh your data on the cycle that matches your quality improvement efforts: annual, semi-annual, quarterly, monthly, or weekly.
How much training is required to use PopulationManager?
We adhere to a very simple belief: good software does not require a lot of user training. Once you see our interface, we think you’ll agree—you already know how to use it.
What about Meaningful Use? Where does PopulationManager fit?
Forward Health Group expects to be certified soon.
“The key to meaningful use is to know how to measure for performance and to be able to give feedback to providers.” David Blumenthal, MD from http://www.healthcareitnews.com/news/blumenthal-puts-quality-reporting-core-meaningful-use
Each and every day, we read another article or hear another quote that validates the years of work and investment our team has made in health care data. We are excited that the data we deliver through PopulationManager can serve all stakeholders interested in quality/efficiency/value.
